Brother Leader of North Korea Will Present at the Winter Olympics

The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will visit South Korea this week to attend the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

South Korea's Unification Ministry said on Wednesday that Kim Yo- jong, a senior member of the ruling Labor Party in North Korea, will be part of a high-level delegation that will arrive on Friday. The delegation itself will be headed by Kim Yong Nam, head of state of North Korea's ceremonial regime.

Kim Yo-jong's arrival plan to South Korea comes as more and more North Korean entertainers arrive in South Korea to participate in the Pyeongchang Olympics.

A North Korean female cheerleading team of 229 people arrived in South Korea on Wednesday. They crossed the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas before arriving in a small town outside Pyeongchang. They are part of a 280-member delegation that includes North Korean sports ministers and a taekwondo team that will demonstrate their ability at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

Korea The North once sent cheerleading teams to sporting events where South Korea hosted them 2002, 2003 and 2005. A member of the 2005 cheerleading team will be Kim Jong-un's wife. [ab/uh]
