A lawyer in London pleaded guilty on Tuesday to lying to a US investigator about his relationship with Rick Gates, a former aide to President Donald Trump's campaign. This is part of a broad investigation into Russian intervention in the 2016 US presidential election.
The Office of Special Investigator Robert Mueller revealed the allegations against lawyer Alex Van der Zwaan on Tuesday morning, and he pleaded guilty in the afternoon in a Washington court.

Van der Zwaan is the daughter-in-law of Russian billionaire, German Khan, and has worked at leading law firm in New York Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom until the firm claimed to have fired him last year.
Mueller's office alleges that when van der Zwaan worked for Skadden, he had lied about his latest communications with Gates in mid-August 2016.
