The Government indicated on Saturday that air pollution roadmaps were being transmitted to the European Commission as required by the State Council.
The Ministry of Transport Ecological transition brought together the 14 roadmaps, the elements of which will be forwarded to the European Commission as planned, he told AFP adding that they would be made public next week.
The high court had summoned in July the executive to act against air pollution, responsible for nearly 50,000 premature deaths annually
The State Council, seized by the association Friends of the Earth, enjoined the Prime Minister and the Minister for Ecological Transition to take, "in the shortest possible time", "all necessary measures" to reduce PM10 (less than or equal to 10 microns diameter) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) ) below the permissible limit values, in all areas where they were still exceeded in 2015.
This was the case in twelve agglomerations and regions for nitrogen dioxide (including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Grenoble, Strasbourg or Toulouse), and three for particles (Paris, Rhône-Alpes and Martinique). The government had until the end of March, Saturday, to transmit to the European Commission its detailed roadmaps, after having delivered mid-February the "main elements."
France is, with eight other countries of the Union, threatened with being sent to European courts for breaches of air pollution
Paris is subject to infringement proceedings by the Commission both for dépassemen ts in fine particles (PM10) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2).
